Drew Gardiner currently serves as a Policy Specialist at the International Labour Organization (ILO), he is also a PhD fellow at the University of Lausanne.
At the ILO, Drew's work centres on advising governments and social partners on addressing employment issues in national development plans. His role involves close collaboration with governments, employers, and workers' organizations to advance policies that facilitate employment opportunities in sectors critical to climate adaptation and economic transformation. He was previously the Chief Technical Adviser of the ILO’s “Taqeem Initiative” which undertakes impact evaluation of policies and programmes on women’s and youth employment
Drew's academic research and fieldwork focusses on the gig economy, especially how platformization impacts creative workers. He also investigates labour market challenges with insights into structural transformations driven by technological innovation and environmental imperatives. His work has been published in journals, policy briefs and reports, contributing to discussions on digital and green economies, the future of work, and the evolving demands of global labour markets.
