Abstract

work work environment economic and social development labour productivity quality of working life job satisfaction income redistribution labour relations works council developing countries Economic Development
Provides an assessment of the relationship between work and development. Focuses on three distinct, but related aspects of the issue: efficiency and justice in the allocation of resources to the quality of working conditions; the role of the workplace, and labour's role in particular, in generating productivity; and the way that work fits in with and serves other social activities and thereby contributes to well-being beyond its purely financial rewards.
