Expertise
Rosina Gammarano holds a degree in Applied Economics from the University of Poitiers, a Master’s degree in International and Development Economics from the University of Paris Dauphine, and another Master's degree in Applied Artificial Intelligence from the European University of Madrid, complementing her expertise in data and statistics with advanced analytical tools.
She has over fifteen years of experience in the United Nations system, primarily at the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Geneva. As a Senior Labour Statistician in the Research and Statistics Department, she contributes to the development and implementation of international statistical standards on work and labour market measurement. Her work focuses on advancing methodologies, strengthening the production and dissemination of labour statistics, and supporting evidence-based policymaking through analytical pieces, flagship reports and capacity building.
Throughout her career at the ILO, she has led analytical work on labour market trends and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) indicators, authored methodological guidelines, and contributed to major international reports. She has extensive experience in capacity building, having designed and delivered training programmes and technical workshops worldwide to support countries in producing and using high-quality labour market data.
Between 2020 and 2023, she was seconded to the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office in Mexico, where she served as Economist and Development Coordination Officer, and for a period as Head of Office ad interim. In these roles, she led strategic analysis and coordination efforts to support SDG implementation, including overseeing the Common Country Analysis, contributing to UN flagship reports, and advising on policy and programme development at national level.
Her professional interests include sustainable development, decent work, world of work inequalities, labour market measurement, international statistical standards, the effective communication of statistics, and the application of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to improve data quality and policy insights.
