Expertise
Janine Berg is Senior Economist in the Research Department of the International Labour Office in Geneva, Switzerland.
Since joining the ILO in 2002, she has conducted research on the economic and social effects of labour regulations as well as provided technical assistance to ILO constituents on policies for generating jobs and improving working conditions. From 2008 to 2011, Janine worked at the ILO office in Brazil as an employment specialist. From 2018 to 2019, she served in the Secretariat for the ILO’s Global Commission on the Future of Work.
She is the author of several books and policy reports as well as numerous articles on employment, labour market institutions and the future of work. Her current area of focus is on transformations in the world of work and regulatory compliance. Janine received her Ph.D. in economics from the New School for Social Research in New York, USA.
