Presents a synthesis of the findings of "rapid assessment" inquiries conducted by consultants in four countries, covering the causes and mechanisms for the recruitment of child soldiers, their living conditions while in the armed groups, and the circumstances surrounding their release. Makes proposals for preventive action and reintegration measures, addressed to the families, the children themselves, the political parties, and the potential recruiters.
