Abstract
In this paper, an overview is provided of the electronics industry today and the ways in which key megatrends and drivers, including technological advances, globalization, demographic trends and climate change, are likely to shape the future of work in the industry. Analysis is then provided on key challenges and opportunities for decent work stemming from those megatrends and drivers, bearing in mind the principles enshrined in the Decent Work Agenda of the ILO. The paper concludes with a call for action with a view to supporting efforts by governments, employers and workers and all other relevant stakeholders to shape a future that works for all, including the thousands of enterprises and millions of women and men involved in the production of electronics components, computers, telephones and other electronic equipment that so many of us depend on in our work and daily lives.
