Abstract
This study was carried out from 1st April to 10th July 2025, within key labour-intensive sectors - namely food processing, textiles, chemicals, plastics and engineering across four major governorates: Damascus, Aleppo, Homs and Hama. Through structured interviews with 140 operational factories, the study aimed to generate evidence-based insights into the current skills gaps within the manufacturing sector. A particular focus was placed on members of the regional Chambers of Industry, with an emphasis on the garment sector in Aleppo and Damascus. The findings are intended to inform the ILO’s efforts in designing effective employment and skills development programs, ensuring that future interventions are aligned with the needs of Syria’s recovering industrial economy.
