Abstract
This report, "Mapping Skill-Based Labour Migration Partnerships Between Countries of Origin and Destination," is a detailed study focused on expanding safe and regular migration pathways for medium and high-skilled workers from countries in the East and Horn of Africa (EHoA), such as Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda. Its core purpose is to provide a comprehensive analysis of the labour market demands for skilled workers in four key destination countries, including Australia, Canada, Japan, and South Korea, and to establish a mechanism for aligning the skills, training, and certification systems of EHoA countries with these specific international requirements. Ultimately, the report serves as a technical blueprint to facilitate formal, skill-based migration partnerships, thereby maximising economic benefits for both origin and destination countries while ensuring decent work opportunities for African youth.
