Abstract
This report provides evidence on the impacts of the current crisis on employment, earnings and working conditions in the private sector, and examines the coping strategies adopted by workers and their priorities for recovery, with the aim of informing policy responses to protect workers and promote labour market recovery during a period of acute economic and social distress. The report concludes with a set of policy recommendations structured around short-, medium- and long-term priorities to address the repercussions of the crisis on private sector workers. These findings are based on a survey of 2,485 private sector workers across all governorates, economic sectors and nationalities, conducted by the ILO in May 2026 in partnership with the General Confederation of Lebanese Workers (CGTL) and the National Federation of Workers and Employees Trade Unions in Lebanon (FENASOL) with funding from the EU-funded ENABLE programme and the Netherlands-funded PROSPECTS partnership.
