Abstract
Based on a People's Security Survey (PSS) carried out in urban and rural areas around Ahmedabad city in 2000. The key purposes of the survey were to measure insecurity; to identify sources of insecurity; and to search for what poor people in the informal sector perceive as their core need for social protection.
