Abstract
The informal sector plays a substantial role in North Macedonia, both in terms of its contribution to the GDP and the number of individuals it employs. As of 2022, the informal economy accounted for a significant 23.2 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), according to Finance Think’s 2022 policy study. The objective of this analysis was to examine the motivations behind undeclared work and formal employment from the perspectives of both employers and workers with focus on your workers, based on the results of the pilot measure “Making Declared Work Attractive for Employers and Employees”, which has been implemented by the International Labour Organization in North Macedonia.
