Abstract

working conditions care worker social protection social dialogue cooperative social and solidarity economy decent work Sri Lanka
Provides an analysis of the realities faced by care workers in Sri Lanka. It examines existing gaps in labour protection, social protection, occupational safety and health, and representation, while also highlighting the structural challenges associated with the informality of care work. Importantly, the study explores the potential of Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) approaches — particularly care cooperatives— as innovative pathways to advance decent work, formalization, and inclusive care systems
