Abstract
This final report discusses the assessment of the environment for the uptake of RE in Botswana to mitigate the effects of climate change. It discusses the country’s background in terms of policies and regulatory frameworks to climate change, adaptation and mitigation measures in line with international best practice in just transition from carbon-based energy production systems to RE. The report then presents key results from the data collected using qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. The evidence, together with information from a desktop research and benchmarking exercise, provide analytical answers to the key Terms of Reference (TORs) of this work. Conclusions and recommendations on how best Botswana can move forward on the path to an inclusive just transition to RE wrap up the report.
