Abstract

wage policy economic conditions price wages inflation indexation minimum wage wage determination state intervention labour relations statistical table OECD countries
Shows that in the 1970s some wage policies led to a more equal wage distribution and a higher wage share in national income, but that this trend was reversed in the 1980s. Advocates a bargaining strategy that trades off wage restraint for more active demand policies.
