Article comprising a comparison of occupational safety and occupational health systems in Switzerland, the UK and USA - comments on labour legislation trends, discusses the lessons for developing countries, finds general "enabling Acts", supplemented by labour standards and code of practice to be the best approach, and stresses the need for a closer integration of labour administration, social research and labour inspection, with a comprehensive data collecting service.
