Examines, first, the changes in the pattern of integration of young people into the labour market; second, the styles of policy that have been introduced to tackle those problems; and, third, the strategic issues relating to the treatment of less able people. Focuses on the younger cohorts (aged 16-19) involved in the school-to-work transition and covers mainly the period from 1971 to 1993.
