Article discussing efforts being made in Iran, Islamic Republic, India and Syrian Arab Republic to promote nonfarm employment in rural areas as a means of encouraging rural development - describes employment opportunities for the woman worker, examines the labour shortage of skilled workers in rural areas and outlines development policies and strategies for promoting non-farm employment and deterring rural migration.
