Abstract
Article on occupational safety in mines and the importance of safety training for miners - reviews the factors on which improved safety depends (incl. Regulation, enforcement and research by the authorities, increased automation, and the establishment of safety committees), describes safety training programmes intended for different occupational groups, and includes some examples from national practice.
