Article forecasting implications of technological change associated with diminishing labour demand and unemployment in a postindustrial society - examines trends in labour productivity, hours of work and unemployment in OECD countries; considers economic theories on the impact of new technologys on employment; presents three scenarios associated with social conflict, non-violent social change, or a deliberate effort to achieve the workless society as quickly and as painlessly as possible.
