Abstract

Argues that the interests and rights of senior citizens are not adequately provided for in existing legal frameworks. Proposes the introduction of a legally recognized status for older people conferring a range of socio-economic rights. Focuses on non-discrimination on grounds of age, greater flexibility in pension and retirement systems and organized representation modelled on trade unionism and collective bargaining.
