Article using input output analysis to provide a comparison of the effect of trade with developing countries on employment in six EC countries - uses an open static Leontif econometric model to assess effect of substituting domestic production with imports from developing countries; discusses implications for industrial structure and labour demand; considers trade barriers have minimal effect on reducing unemployment and recommends North South trade liberalization.
