Abstract
Reviews the ongoing controversy over the legal prohibition of women's night work, focusing on the conflict between the protection of female workers and the principles of non-discrimination and equal treatment. Examines ILO standards on the issue and reviews national law and practice. Discusses the main findings of the ILO's Committee of Experts and the views expressed by ILO constituents.
