Abstract
Article on the effects of agricultural mechanization on employment prospects in southern Italy - discusses the impact of tractorization and the use of other agricultural machinery on seasonal unemployment trends and labour demand in respect of rural workers, and concludes that while technological change cannot be disregarded, there is still a need to reconcile farmers' interests with community requirements by means of a more discriminating agricultural policy towards mechanization.
