Abstract
Article reviewing employment, wages, and living conditions of plantation workers in developing countries since 1960 - asserts that conditions have changed little over past decades; finds labour shortages due primarily to arduous working conditions; notes increasing agricultural employment of woman workers and seasonal workers, gradual adoption of minimum wages, and shift towards wage payment systems based on time rates; reviews provision of workers housing, health services and welfare facilities.
