Abstract
Looks at the complaints received by the ILO's Committee on Freedom of Association alleging violations of trade union rights in the teaching profession. Outlines the ILO's position vis-a-vis independence of trade union movement, right to organise and strike, and government interference. Considers whether the Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, adopted by the ILO/UNESCO Joint Committee, should be reinforced.
