Article on rural migration, wage differentials and trends in urban area unemployment in the tropical zone of Africa - presents a model to explain the continued existence of rural-urban migration in the face of rising levels of urban unemployment and examines alternative short term and long term employment policies such as wage subsidies, employment opportunity creation by voluntary agreement, comprehensive wage policy, population policy, promotion of labour intensive industry, etc. References and statistical tables.
