Abstract
Article on agrarian structure, agricultural mechanization and agricultural employment in the context of agricultural development in Chile from 1955 to 1965 - reviews structural and technological changes that occurred, assesses their impact on productivity and employment in various categories of farms, and finds that a policy of growth is hard to reconcile, in a market economy, with an employment policy aimed at employment creation for agricultural workers.
