Article on employment problems and employment policies in respect of increasing number of older workers in Japan - discusses the rapid ageing (over 55 years) of the workforce, unemployment rates by age group, the need to raise the age of mandatory retirement, provision of retraining to promote re-employment, employment quotas, and other actions to accommodate older workers.
