Article commenting on the need to reform social security legislation in African countries to replace systems based on employer's liability by schemes for pooling costs of employment accident benefits - examines compensation coverage of occupational diseases, and need to link compensation to occupational safety programmes as an incentive to improved accident prevention, and mentions relevant ILO Conventions and ILO Recommendations.
