Abstract
Article on comparison of causes and economic policy implications of unemployment in Germany, Federal Republic, France and the Netherlands (trends 1960 to 1979) - examines projections of labour demand and labour supply to 1990, considers effects of wages and social security benefits on labour mobility, analyses structural unemployment and frictional unemployment, and finds that the majority of unemployment is due to insufficient demand and, therefore, macro-economic in nature.
