Abstract
Article examining economic theory in respect of the opportunity cost of work and advocating the use of prevailing wages levels as the basic measure thereof - covers the relevance of marginal productivity to, and the effect of urban area unemployment, disguised unemployment and cyclical unemployment on the 'social cost' of labour and comments critically on the use of macro-economic models to derive this cost.
