Abstract
Article on correlations between population growth, economic disparity and poverty - includes a literature survey of inter- country comparisons; attempts to develop a model to examine interrelationship among income distribution, fertility, mortality, etc.; discusses theoretical issues; and argues that there is little empirical evidence that higher birth rates lead to greater inequality, esp. in the long term, although increasing inequality does appear to effect some decline in population growth.
