Abstract
Analyses the field of social protection, viewed within the wider concept of decent work. Relates both social protection and decent work to development. Provides an approach that widens the focus from conventional narrowly defined elements of social protection to a broader interpretation that emphasizes the interface between social protection and development. Considers the design of social protection systems and the monitoring of social protection indicators.
