Abstract
As governments worldwide advance ambitious environmental and climate agendas, MSMEs are under growing pressure to adapt to new regulations—often without adequate resources or support. Kenya’s 2017 plastic bag ban offers valuable lessons on the importance of inclusive policy design. This brief highlights how integrating MSME perspectives can foster a just transition that supports enterprise resilience, environmental sustainability, and decent work.
