Abstract
This publication collects the key insights and discussion points that took place at the workshop on Local economic development (LED) that was organized in August 2006 at SRO Manila. It is a contribution to the broader debate within the Philippine development community on the opportunities and the limitations that decentralization and local governance offer to promote sustainable and equitable economic and social welfare. It it also expected to be an instrument for disseminating good practices, encouraging new thinking and developing new programmes for action.
