Abstract
Integrating a just transition in nationally determined contributions (NDCs) provides a crucial basis to leverage the contribution of climate action to decent work, social equity and sustainable development, and it is a key enabler of climate ambition. The uptake of just transition in NDCs has increased over time. There is however scope for uptake on a larger scale and with a systematic and action-oriented approach. A review of NDCs from a range of geographies and the ILO’s Just Transition Guidelines and International Labour Conference Resolution offer some key learnings and reflections for addressing effectively a just transition in NDCs.
