Abstract
This paper explores how insurers can expand access to insurance for underserved and low-income populations. Drawing on insights from practitioners across Africa, Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean, it identifies the key barriers to effective distribution and the strategies used to overcome them. The paper highlights four priorities for success, including crafting an effective distribution strategy, designing strategic distribution partnerships, managing distribution costs and leveraging technology to support distribution. It also provides a practical checklist to help providers strengthen their distribution strategies and reach more people.
