Presents an overview of the gender and employment dimensions of poverty in three East African countries, with a view to identifying the main trends, policy issues and challenges. Examines how far current poverty reduction policies address gender and employment and assesses the progress made in the implementation of these policies through legislation, allocation of resources, development of targeted programmes and the institutionalization of processes.
