Abstract

employment mining small scale industry environmental protection legislation state intervention environmental impact assessment environmental policy women workers case study Zimbabwe
This study draws on the considerable amount of literature available on the small and artisanal mining sectors in Zimbabwe and examines the extent of the problem to determine if solutions can be found to the current conflict between employment and environment. It is hoped that the study will assist the Government of Zimbabwe to develop appropriate policies and implementation measures, as well as provide governments elsewhere with useful guidelines for consideration.
