Abstract
This Thematic Brief is part of a series of publications on Enterprise Formalization. Thematic Brief 2/2021 discusses the formalities required to start up an enterprise as well as the subset of costs and benefits to enterprises of transitioning to the formal economy, including entry costs and ongoing compliance costs. Further, the brief puts a focus on how to reduce information gaps and eliminate inefficiencies in the implementation of relevant regulations, for example through one-stop shops.
