Abstract
Although the response has been mixed, many host governments in the region have created large-scale programs granting Venezuelans some form of legal status, permission to work, and access to public education and health care. There is much to be learned from these policies and their outcomes, both for the future in countries where Venezuelans have settled and for other contexts of displacement. The paper begins with a brief explanation of the programs that have allowed Venezuelans in Colombia and Brazil to regularize their status.
