Abstract

child labour cotton value chains
Examines cotton production, central to economic growth and a source of livelihood in certain developing countries. Looks at child labour in the sector, ranging from under age seasonal harvest work to hazardous work and forced and trafficked labour. Discusses difficulties for companies in tracing cotton’s long, fragmented and opaque supply chain, and challenges in the sustainability of cotton production.
