Investigates the effects of foreign direct investment on the local economy of the city of Gyor, Hungary. Identifies factors leading to success in attracting new manufacturing plants and presents a case study of the motor vehicle industry. Assesses the impact of the new plants in terms of job creation, local subcontracting and supplier relationships, technology transfer and worker training.
