Reviews the extent of unfree labour in agriculture, among tribals, in brick kilns, quarries, crushers and mines, power looms and handlooms, and other sectors as well as children involved in silk reeling and carpet weaving. Highlights the role of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in monitoring the implementation of the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976.
