Abstract
Provides an overview of progress made by the Building and Woodworkers International (BWI) in the promotion of the Decent Work agenda in the construction industry. Looks at recent efforts to improve employment and working conditions through the insertion of labour clauses in procurement and contract documents. Such mechanisms represent one part of the strategy adopted by the BWI to promote the social aspects of construction, sound industrial policy and trade union participation in economic development.
