Abstract
This publication summarizes the findings of the ILO’s 2024 assessment conducted under the project “Improving Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and Access to Social Protection for Workers in the Agri-business Sectors.” It examines the situation of farmers and workers in Kenya’s castor value chain, identifying occupational risks and hazards, low levels of social protection coverage, and the financial and institutional constraints that heighten vulnerability. The report also highlights key drivers for progress and proposes priority actions to enhance OSH conditions and strengthen access to social protection across the value chain.
