Discusses the emergence of lean retailing production channels in the late 1980s and 1990s to fill the smaller just-in-time replenishment market niche in the apparel industry. Examines how efficiencies are generated, the limits to the growth of quick resupply markets and new directions for extending the rapid response capability of the apparel industry.
