Abstract
In recent decades, reducing inequalities between men and women in the labour market has emerged as a key challenge for achieving inclusive economic growth. This paper assesses progress towards equality in the workforce between men and women, addressing both labour force participation (the Brisbane Goal) and wage gaps, which is crucial to promoting fair labour markets and women’s economic empowerment. This paper emphasizes comprehensive and targeted policy interventions, including strengthening labour market institutions, promoting equal pay for work of equal value, ensuring decent working conditions in the care economy and promoting equal opportunities and treatment for all in education and employment across sectors.
