Abstract
Argues that applying ILO labour standards can help companies develop their competitive edge. Explores the interrelationship between best management practices and ILO standards by presenting case studies from large and small companies from different regions and industries which show how their adoption has transformed working practices. Provides examples of how implementing standards dealing with recruiting and hiring, employee involvement, labour relations, and health and safety, has helped businesses create a positive working environment, reduce labour costs and increase productivity.
